Affordable Resources for Egypt’s Industrial Growth (RIndustry) is an EU-funded project implemented by the British University in Egypt (BUE), New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI), and ISIS for Food Industries.
The overall objective of RIndustry is to change the culture of resource utilization in Egypt’s industry for enhanced economics and competition. Energy production, water treatment, and rationalization, and energy efficiency are targeted for this mission, where R&D-based, innovative, and sustainable solutions are employed.
Our Mission
RIndustry is designed to draw the attention of industrial beneficiaries and stakeholders to the positive impact of the proposed affordable resources on their economics and competitiveness and hence bring them to embrace a new culture of resource utilization.
Our Work
Mobilization of the industry aims at campaigning for embracing advanced, affordable resources, and adaptation creates on the ground new resources through a number of pilot industries. Pre and post implementation activities in terms of needs assessment and monitoring are very significant in the adaptation effort. Creation of start-ups is a major element in the sustainability effort to ensure spreading of the affordable resource utilization culture in Egypt’s industries.
Our Goal
The sum of the above activities achieve the previously stated objectives, which guarantee the creation and spreading of a resource mindful industry convinced and capable of working out of the comfort zone when dealing with resource utilization and keen on adopting advanced resource utilization technologies. This includes adopting renewable energy and water desalination as well as implementing modifications to enhance savings in energy and water consumption. The success of the proposed action will demonstrate how industry-academia collaboration can change resource utilization map of MSMEs from completely utility-dependent to partially or fully independent. The ripple effect of this benefit will go far beyond cost reduction it is targeting or the few MSMEs the project will accommodate.
